Q: Do you get completely undressed for a massage? Or what is best for the person giving you the massage?
A: You are covered at all times during a massage with sheets called draping. We only uncover the area that is currently being worked on. You do not need to undress fully and we want you to be comfortable during your treatment. Bras do get in the way of massaging the back and shoulders. We use lotions and oils so any clothing you leave on runs the risk of them getting these on them. If you feel better leaving your underwear on you can. Just don't wear a fancy pair that might get ruined if oil was to get on them. We are always making sure you are comfortable and covered. Please let the therapist know if you have any concerns about clothing. At no time are your private areas exposed or uncovered.
Q: Hello,I am African American and having some issues with acne scars on my face. I may be interested in the Pumkin Enzyme Peel, but my skin is also very sensitive. How do I determine the right treatment for the problem?
A: The scars if they are just discoloration and not an indent or pitted scar can most definitely be treated with the pumpkin enzyme peel. This treatment is great for fading the discoloration and works wonderfully on African American skin. It also is overall great for skin health and leaves you glowing. Even though you are sensitive the Pumpkin Peel is usually not a problem for sensitive skin to handle. It will over time help to decrease the sensitivity of your skin as it becomes more conditioned. Scarring will take multiple treatments as there is not instant fix. After the first few treatments we will be able to determine approx. how many treatments you will need as some people fade faster or slower than the next person. There is also treatment serums we can send home with you to continue fading between treatments and acts as a boost to the treatment for faster results.
Q: how long does an hydrafacial take?
A: The whole appointment takes 45 min. to 1 hour depending on what is going on with your skin. Problematic skin will take longer than someone who has none to minor skin problems.
Q: I have an embarrassing question and am afraid to ask.
A: Never be afraid to ask us. We have probably heard it before and what you may think is embarrassing is just normal to us. We are here to help you and will never make you feel uncomfortable or stupid. We enjoy answering questions.
Q: I just purchased the Hydrafacial MD DermaBuilder Age-Refining Peptide Complex. Can I use this around my eyes?
A: This product is not for the eye area. The skin around the eye is thinner and more delicate than the rest of your face. Remember also that products travel on the skin and even if you are careful about not getting it too close to the eye that it will spread and can cause eye irritation. We recommend using an eye treatment specially made for the eye area. It will work better and is safe. • Our Epicuren Eye Alive is great for dark circles and puffiness around the eye. • Our Epicuren Eye Cream is a tightening firming cream to help tighten the skin and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

- New skin care product
- Medicine
- Diet / full body cleanses
- Climate - changes in season

Q: If I want a airbrush tan .. and a massage, what service should I do first?
A: Airbrush tan is sensitive to oils. If the skin has oils or lotions on it at the time of the tan it will turn a greenish color. After an airbrush tan it takes 6 to 10 hours for the tan to fully develop and then a shower is needed. In answer to the question it's not a good idea to do an airbrush tan and massage on the same day. Even if you shower after the massage the oils have been massaged deeply into the skin and your tan may not last as long or develop as well. We recommend massage one day and then do the airbrush tanning the following day. Doing a massage the day after the tan can break the tan down faster.
Q: im older woman always have have pimples here and there but now they look like they are under the skin of my face? thats the only way i can explain it. thx
A: Usually pimples that are under the skin, don't seem to surface or get white heads on them, are painful and swollen are called cystic acne. Most of the time these are caused by hormones. Changes in age, birth control, genetics and menopause are common reasons for this type of acne. Usually they appear along the jaw line, lower cheeks, neck and mouth area. This type of acne can be the toughest to treat. Don't give up it's not hopeless. Please feel free to contact us for a free consultation to determine what type of acne you have and we can give you some options.
Q: My nose has dark pores all over it. I think they are blackheads. How can I get rid of them?
A: Blackheads are stubborn clogged pores that the oil and dirt have oxidized in. Sometimes ones that have been clogged for a long time can even get a layer of skin grown over it making them tough to get out. Some blackheads have been in your skin for years and are really deep. They can get infected and turn into a pimple or an ulcer.
They are extremely common and most everyone has them. Usually the more oily your skin is the more you have. The nose, forehead, and chin are the most common places. Extractions and proper home care will get them cleared up.
We recommend a Pumpkin Enzyme peel or Glycolic peel. They soften up blackheads and have many other great benefits for the skin. 3 to 5 days after the Pumpkin or Glycolic peel we recommend doing a mini extractor *facial. This 2 step facial procedure softens the blackheads, exfoliates dead skin and makes the blackheads much easier to remove along with getting more of the dirt and debris out of the pore. The total price of the two treatments is $85.
*Mini extractor is only available as a follow up to the peel and can’t be purchased separately.
Q: What are extractions in a facial?
A: Extractions are when an esthetician pushes the oil ,dirt, and debris out of clogged pores. This is done on pimples to push the infection out of the skin and clear them up faster.
Blackheads can be deeply imbedded in the pore and the only way to get them out usually is to have them extracted.
The skin is cleansed and a special softening solution is applied and then steamed into the skin to soften up the clogged pores. The esthetician then uses a special technique to push the clog to the surface and out.
Extractions can be uncomfortable but should NEVER cause you extreme pain or leave you bruised or red for days. Extractions combined with properly cleansing your skin daily will help reduce pore size over time.
Q: What is the difference between swedish massage and deep tissue? How do I know what I need?
A: Swedish massage is the relaxing flowing massage that is good for people who have never had a massage before or are looking for some real relaxation time. It is the most popular massage and most commonly booked.
Deep Tissue massage is a heavy pressure massage that can include stretching and expanding of the muscles. This is for people who are really tight from working out, repetitive job related lifting or position, or for people who like heavy pressure during massage.
Therapeutic massage is a great way to get the best of both. If you need to relax but have knots in your back, neck, shoulders etc. this is the one you want. They will work out your problem areas but get the benefits of the relaxation of the Swedish.
If you don't know what you need just let us know. We can change what pressure you are getting even during the massage. Please always let us know if you want more or less pressure. Speak up so we can make sure your time with us gives you the result you wanted
